Holiday Terror

I have a slew of Christmas themed horror films that I would like to get around to this month. One thing I never miss is a Christmas Eve viewing of Black Christmas (1974). And this year I'm pretty excited about a new release of Silent Night, Bloody Night, cleaned up and in widescreen supposedly.

What holiday horrors do you watch?

Others i like to watch as well are gremlins, dont open til christmas, silent night deadly night 1 and 2, P2 is another decent watch, set on christmas eve. Oh and night train murders and christmas evil are really good as well.

  2. Cueboy you are a man after my own heart! I like To All A Goodnight as well despite it's crap transfer. New Year's Evil is one we try to watch on New Year's Eve too. What do you think of the Silent Night 'remake'? I like it myself.

  5. The more I think about it the more there are, but to name just a few...

First and foremost, I wholeheartedly concur with both of you fine chaps that Black Christmas on Christmas Eve is a must. I plan on doing a double bill of that and Christmas Evil (aka: You Better Watch Out) - which might be my current 2nd favourite Christmas horror movie, even after the first viewing - if time permits.

Others include Silent Night, Deadly Night, which I re-watched last night (and as I said to you before Brad, I quite enjoyed the "remake" myself), Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, Batman Returns, which is not really horror I know but Tim Burton gets let in for the general gothic/noir vibe he brings to things, and speaking of him I suppose The Nightmare Before Christmas is always a possibility as well.

Can't think of any other movies off the top of my head but there's some TV stuff I'll probably check out as well... especially those M.R. James adaptations we were talking about... and some others include various TV specials from the likes of the X-Files, Beavis and Butt-head, Batman: The Animated Series, and maybe the Star Wars Holiday Special for shits and giggles... that one's arguably pretty horrific in its own way...

  6. Three more movies have just sprung to mind... only one is a really a horror film but all arguably including elements of it, and all three are set round the holidays: Brazil, Hardware and Eyes Wide Shut.

  7. Whoa! Simon you certainly heeded the call! Batman Returns! I must admit I hadn't thought of that but I'll take it! And I know you preach the love of Hardwire. You have some excellent choices.
